ABOUT luke bern carr

Luke Bern Carr is a multimedia artist and creative director whose work bridges film, music, sound, and story. Over the past 20 years, he has cultivated a dynamic practice as a filmmaker, editor, sound designer, and composer—collaborating with world-class artists and institutions to craft immersive, emotionally resonant experiences.

Carr’s work has been featured in Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Southwest Contemporary, and Brooklyn Vegan, and spans award-winning documentaries, narrative television, branded content, art films, music videos, and interdisciplinary performance. At the heart of his approach is a core belief: that media, when created with care and intention, can be a meditative, healing force—even within the most minimal of formats.

Originally from Washington, DC, Carr began his career working on productions with A&E, NBC, PBS and Roland House before relocating to the Southwest in 2008, where he contributed to major feature films from MGM and Sony Pictures. His musical career took flight in 2013 with the release of Pigrow, co-produced with John Dieterich (Deerhoof), and evolved into live performances at venues including Meow Wolf and SXSW.

In 2014, Carr launched Storming The Beaches With Logos In Hand, an ambitious sci-fi multimedia opera that debuted at Currents International New Media Festival and toured nationally. The project featured collaborations with Navajo/Diné artist Tony Abeyta and West African master drummer Fred Simpson, sparking Carr’s in-depth study of West African drum and dance in Guinea with masters Soriba Fofona and Fara Tolno.

In 2020, Carr founded Bernlore, an independent creative studio and production label that now serves as the hub for his diverse body of work. Carr continues to explore the evolving language of media, driven by a passion for the transformative power of film, music, and sound to connect, inspire, and move audiences across platforms.
